Integrated Mindfulness Afterschool Program
Recognizing the importance of children’s social-emotional well-being and the need to build resilience from a young age, Bodhi Academy offers the Integrated Mindfulness Afterschool Program (iMAP). Designed for K-8 students, iMAP supports students with both academic growth and social-emotional development through mindfulness practice and enrichment activities. With iMAP, your child will receive effective homework support while also learning valuable self-care and soft skills.
iMAP Registration for 2024-2025 school year is now open!
Give us a try to see the positive
development in your child’s growth!
Our Integrated Mindfulness Afterschool Program (iMAP) is designed to serve multiple purposes from academic improvements to making a positive impact to young children by:
- Providing a fun and safe place for elementary and middle school students after school hours to practice mindfulness techniques and engage in positive interactions with caring adult role models.
- Assisting students in academic growth through tutoring and/or assistance in completing their homework
- Encouraging students to cultivate compassion, awareness, respect, and exploration
- Teaching students additional social-emotional skills not offered in traditional schools
Mindfulness practice is a soft skill. Just like swimming or playing the piano, you have to practice daily to be good at it. In the long run, iMAP diligent participation will help to:
- Support positive learning attitude in school
- Provide a well-balanced lifestyle for youth
- Promote mental wellness and inner fitness
- Potentially prevent juvenile concerns
iMAP Schedule of Operation:
- 2024-2025 School Year Schedule: from August 12, 2024 to May 30, 2025
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm; Wednesday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm
iMAP Activities:
- Various activities including but not limited to:
- Guided Relaxation: demonstrate a mental body-scan technique to help students learn how to truly relax every part of their bodies and let go of tensions and stress that have built up during the school day.
- Academic Support: assist students in completing their homework with a fresh mind and body following the guided relaxation.
- Mindful Snacking: provide students with an opportunity to learn mindful eating to fully enjoy their meals and develop healthy eating habits.
- Brain Break Exercises: help students relax their minds in order to enhance focus and attention while doing homework or studying.
- Enriching Workshops: broaden students’ skillsets through yoga, arts and crafts, earth stewardship, science, conflict resolution, mindfulness lessons, and more.
We care for your children wellness, not for profits! Since we are the only a non-profit afterschool center promoting SEL skills through the integrated practice mindfulness.
